The Void

                                        The Void 

                        Short Story/Science Fiction

 

 The year was 1640-AD we had been sailing on brutal 

waters for days. In fact I am certain that each one of us assumed that we were most likely dead. then something quite peculiar happened. The waters had turned over our ship, and we jumped to try and save ourselves the only problem aside from the ship wreck was we were sinking underwater rapidly. We started drowning as fast as we were sinking. I was at the point of passing out. When I saw a light shining above me, and then all of a sudden everything whited out on me, and I woke up at sunrise. Laying on an island. That looked like no place we had ever seen,and my entire crew was lying on the island with me. We didn’t understand what had happened. At least not yet that is. But we would soon enough. After we had all woken up we started traveling into the wooded areas of the island the place was absolutely beautiful. It was like some type of utopia, and it 

was an improvement from what we saw everyday. At least from where we came from it did. As we walked through the woods seeking out anything that we could

find to eat. We ran across a young lady dressed in a gorgeous white robe. I walked up to her, and she asked me what my name was. I told her my name is Shipmate Lloyd Mansfield. Then I asked her what her name was, and she responded with Gloria Funati what is this place anyway I asked. She replied with a different dimension from the one that you were recently in. Then she explained that she saw our ship wreck and do to her clairvoyant gift to read minds and souls. She sawthat we were actually a very kind bunch who had hit a streak of bad luck so she took us out of our world and brought us through a portal that she called the void. To where we were standing at that very moment. I Asked her how that was even possible she explained that she was once part of a culture that lived on the outskirts of our reality and that that culture specialized in saving those that were worthy of being saved. Then she started telling us about how her culture had been watching mankind for years, and that they found us as a very entertaining species. Especially our literature she said with a big smile. I asked her OK what’s your favorite book? That come’s from my world. she slightly giggled, and blushed then responded with the book Utopia of course. Who wrote it? I asked she smiled, and responded with Sir Thomas Moore silly. That’s when I smiled back, and responded withI suppose you have been observing humanity for a long time I admitted. Then I smiled at her, and asked her when we would be returning to our world. she smiled back and said you cannot ever return this is a blessed gift that few get you should be happy, and grateful this is a paradise dimension there is no misery here, no pain no suffering at all in anyform. That’s when I said but what about my loved ones. My children, and my wife. I need them there the only reason I keep fighting so hard in my life. To grow, and do better for them and myself. I apologize if you need such trivial things to make you happy she replied but that will serve you no good in this realm there is no way back only one way here you are trapped in paradise which is a realm in between the human realms and the void of all reality. So you should make the best of your time here because here is eternal you will never die here your life has been made permanent and you shall never leave here much less die. So just relax enjoy the great beauty, tranquility, and peace that comes from this gift that you have been blessed with if you give it a chance you will find you’ll never need anything or want anything ever again because all you have to do is think about what you want and it will manifest itself here for you freely. Ok so if I envisioned my family they would be manifested here that’s when she turned around with a very ruthless look on her face. She screamed accept that do not pervert this sacred realm with your primitive species in which most of them, and there evil ways are toxic to this wonderful place. Or I will excommunicate all of you to the abysmal realm where you will suffer for eternity non stop. Her screams were so loud it shook the very fabric of the reality that we were in it was insane. Her power was unbelievable, and to say the least we were terrified. After that she walked away, and vanished into no where. Leaving us to co-exist alone in this paradise type of reality. It took us a few years to get used to the place but eventually we did. Time didn’t seem to exist in this place. It was evident that there was no way back home, and we would have to accept that. Then one day I had an idea! I asked myselfan important question in contemplating my idea. Which was why don’t Imanifest my way out of here? In order to go back home. That’s when he decided to do just that. So he started to think hard about going back home, and having a bag of gold with him once he had arrived. So that he could survive wherever he landed no matter what. Then all of a sudden he was back home, and had a bag of Gold strapped to his back. He was extremely happy, and excited. He started running home from the point where he landed in his city. When he arrived at his home, and walked in the front door. His wife, and children were exited to see him, and his wife asked why he was back so early. When he told her the story of what had happened she smiled at him, and responded with not everything can be explained in this world that we live in, and that she was just happy he was home, and was OK. That night they made love and drifted off into a peaceful sleep. While he was asleep he had a dream. It was about the utopia he had left behind. Only this was no normal dream. This was a visit from that same dimension. It was that woman  Gloria. She walked up slowly to him, and told him that his choice was his choice, and that she respected his choice, and would bother him no more. Then she looked back with a smile on her face, and said I think your a great man to love your family so much that you would give up paradise for them. Bless you Lloyd. You have a great heart one that the rest of the universe could even learn from. Then she told Lloyd that she sent all of his ship mates home as well. After she told him all of that she walked away fading into the void of nothingness never to bother him again. 50 years later A ship sails into the same waters that Lloyd's Crew sailed through the only difference is Lloyd’s son was the captain of this ship. As the ship sailed into those same chaotic waters it vanished into thin air, and then as his father, and his crew once did. They stood there in front of Gloria Fernati. She asked Lloyd's son Victor Mansfield what he thought of her realm, and he replied with it was the most beautiful place he had ever seen. Then she asked if he had a family of his own, and he replied with no. I have no wife or children she smiled at him 

and said great then you will stay here for eternity, and Lloyd's son replied I have no issue with that. His crew also agreed as they had no family of there own either. So they stayed in her paradise reality forever. Never regretting it for even one moment. 

A month later Lloyd who had been retired for years at this point. Received word that his sons ship had vanished into nothingness while sailing on thesame waters that he was caught up in when he vanished 50 years before. But all he did was smile shake his head and say its OK boy you above everyone else deserves that piece of heaven. Thank you Gloria for blessing my son with such a wonderful gift as an eternity in complete peace.
